About Vanessa Sarraino

vanessa sarraino Vanessa Sarraino attended Ryerson University and received a degree in Food and Nutrition, Consumer and Family Studies, where she grew to love nutrition and studying the family. She later went onto obtain a certificate in Health Promotion and her Bachelors of Education at the University of Toronto and has been a high school Nutrition and Family educator for well over 15 years. However, it was not until her second, of 4 children, was born, seven years ago, with intestinal problems, that Vanessa became immersed and passionate about health, wellness and nutrition. After being overwhelmed by visits to 18 different doctors, specialists, surgeons and hospitals, in the first year of her baby’s life, that Vanessa became her own doctor and threw herself into serious health and nutrition research in order to help her baby. She became driven and had a mission to heal all her children and family members through the power of healthy wholesome food.

Her passion in the field of nutrition has only become stronger and more intense throughout the years. She exudes a love, enthusiasm and zeal for health and wellness. Her excitement and love for health and nutrition is well expressed in the way conducts and guides her classes.

Her growing reputation in this area has also allowed her to spend a great deal of time promoting health at St. Joan of Arc High School and the St. Joan of Arc community. The work has been absolutely powerful and significant to the health and well being of this community. It has made a grave importance of the Cooking Kind for Life service. People, of all ages, are desperate for knowledge on how to lead an optimal lifestyle and Vanessa has been the leader in this area. Due to the tremendous amount of promoting and public education of health, well-being and nutrition, Vanessa was presented with certificates and awards from Greg Sorbara and the Honourable Dalton McGuinty; the Minister of Education, the Honourable Kathleen Wynne; and the Minister of Health promotion, the Honourable Jim Winston.

Her bi-monthly column provides detailed and informative writings on childhood health, family nutrition, relation of food to wellness and physical and mental health. Her nutrition articles reach over 5000 families in the City of Vaughan.

In June 2010, Vanessa received a scholar ship to go to New York City and train under Dr.Sears, America’s leading pediatrician, and his team. Vanessa became a certified L.E.A.N Coach (Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition). The training provided knowledge and education that focused on providing nutritional care for expectant mothers, infants, children or the entire family.

Vanessa continues to attend numerous classes, course, lectures and seminars on nutrition, to ensure that she provides her participants recent research, information and quality education.
